In Kaliningrad, opened the international exhibition-contest of amber

Competitive exhibition of the Seventh international Biennale of author’s works of amber «Alatyr-2017», where their works will be presented by artists from Austria, Brazil, Denmark, Germany, Israel, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, France, Russia, opens on Friday in Kaliningrad amber Museum.

«By tradition, the theme of the exhibition is determined by the directions of the development of the program «Culture» UNESCO. The General Assembly of the United Nations has declared 2017 as the year of tourism development. Artists were invited to create works dedicated to the architecture theme of the competition is designated as «Architectural chronicle of the world», — told reporters in the Museum.

According to the Museum, the exhibition provides a unique opportunity for the study and analysis of contemporary international trends in the processing of amber.

The entries are judged in several categories: «Craft», «Creation of artistic image», «Innovation». Also developed additional competitive positions. One of them resembles on the 50th anniversary of the organization of the world-famous tourist route «Golden ring of Russia». The second is called «Objects of pilgrimage.»

The jury of competition included Danish designer meta Saaby, a historian of jewelry from Italy Bianca Capello, Professor of the Latvian Academy of arts Juris, Gaginis, curator of international projects of the amber Museum in Lithuania Regina Majauskiene, honorary member of the Association of artists of jewelry forms from Poland Andrzej Sadkowski.

The representatives of Russia in the composition of the jury were head of the Department of metal and stone of the all-Russian Museum of decorative-applied and folk arts, the Andrei Gilodo and artist-restorer of the highest category Alexander Krylov. The exhibition will last until September 3.

The amber Museum was established in 1979 in Kaliningrad, as in area in the village of Amber (previously Palmniken) on the coast of the Baltic sea is the largest proven Deposit of mineral. According to experts, there are about 90% of world reserves. The field’s reserves are estimated at 116 thousand tons. Every year the Kaliningrad amber plant produces about 300 tons of raw materials.
