Two dozen parties have nominated a total of 88 candidates in the September gubernatorial election in 16 regions of Russia, except the documents filed, one by the independent candidate, said the head of the Russian Central election Commission, Ella Pamfilova.

«The election of the highest officials in 16 regions of Russia for their party activities 20 political parties have already nominated 88 candidates, 78 of which have already been submitted to the relevant election Commission documents about the nomination,» — said Pamfilova at the meeting of the CEC on Friday.

She added that the election Commission of the Kirov region the documents on the nomination also presented one candidate-the independent candidate.

«I hope — judging by the trends, which emerged in the regions on 10 September gubernatorial elections will be quite competitive,» — said the CEC head.

In the elections of regional parliaments, which will also be held in a single voting day, to date, 13 parties have put forward 23 list of candidates, said Pamfilova.

She reported that the by-election of deputies of the state Duma, which will be held September 10 in two single-member districts, six parties have nominated a total of 11 candidates, including six nominated for the by-election in the Kingisepp district in Leningrad region and five in the Bryansk district.
