The new building of the Petersburg Academy of Russian ballet named A. Y. Vaganova, where they can live more than 100 students, will open in September, told reporters on Sunday the rector of the Academy Nikolai Tsiskaridze.

«In the past few years, we took 42-44 human aliens, we didn’t have space in the boarding school. This year in September introduced a new housing, it has long been closed, but I managed to achieve its restoration. And now I can make not 40, but 100 + people, and foreign students — it is for us earnings. This is very important,» Tsiskaridze told at the meeting, which was held in the framework of the festival «Russian seasons».

Speaking about the funding of the Academy, he noted that the world-famous institution is difficult to meet the General standards.

«In our country all want to fit in the system, every year we pass monitoring, every four or five years accreditation to obtain a license… But it is difficult for us to comply with the General regulations, a lot of nuances. In various instances I joke: «First in our country invented ballet, then all the education and then the test instance,» continued Tsiskaridze.

He stressed that the building of the Academy in St. Petersburg — «a huge, it requires investment to the economy to function.»

«This building, where children not only study, but live, and if we cut back, we will not be able to exist… a lot of artists in my grade wants to teach, because it’s hellish work. If you reduce the funding, we will not be able to pay people, their work, and it’s very disappointing,» said the rector.
