The United States conducted a successful test of a missile defense system located in Alaska, said Pentagon spokesman Jeff Davis.

«Yesterday, the missile defense Agency, the United States together with the military personnel of defense conducted a successful test of interceptor missiles using the system of THAAD,» said Davis at a press briefing.

According to him, a ballistic missile target with a medium range was launched in the Pacific from the aircraft C17, and the THAAD system, which intercepted her, was in Alaska. Davis recalled that this was the 15th test of the system.

He added that the trials were not directly linked to recent rocket launch by the DPRK, and planned even before.

In total, as reported by Davis, the arms of the United States are six THAAD batteries – in addition to Alaska they are located in Texas, on the island of GUAM in the Pacific and in South Korea.
