Testing of the first Kazakhstan scientific and technological satellite, developed by experts of joint venture «Galam» in Astana, completed in the UK, launch is planned before the end of the year, said in an interview with RIA Novosti, the head of Airbus Defence and Space (Airbus DS) in Russia, Vladimir Terekhov.

Kazakh-French joint venture «Galam» was formed in 2009 to implement a project for the creation and maintenance of Assembly and test complex of spacecraft, which is being built in Astana. The share capital of JV «Ghalam» is JSC «Kazakhstan Garysh Sapary» 72%, Airbus Defence & Space is 27.5%. 0.5% of the share capital of the joint venture belongs to the state.

«At the moment, colleagues from Kazakhstan finished creation designed by the scientific-technological satellite. The final test of this spacecraft completed our sister company in the UK. In addition, already signed a contract for launch services. The launch is planned before the end of 2017 on the launch vehicle Falcon» — he said.

In addition, according to Terekhov, with the support of Airbus DS in Astana completed construction of a large Assembly and test complex for the production of space technology.

«Of course, we all look forward to the commissioning of the major Assembly and test complex for the production of space technologies in Astana. There was some delay in construction periods, but now seen significant progress: the installation of technological equipment. We expect that by mid-2018 Assembly and test complex will be commissioned», — he concluded.
