Georgia’s Prime Minister believes the visit of Pence «historic opportunity» for Tbilisi

. Representatives of the Georgian authorities think the important message that the Georgian side received during the visit in Tbilisi the Vice-President of the USA Mike Pence, in particular, the country’s Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili has called it a «historic chance» for Georgia.

Vice-President of the United States with his wife, Karen Pence and the official delegation arrived yesterday in Tbilisi with a two-day trip from Tallinn, where he held meetings with the leaders of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. On Tuesday, Pence met with the Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili and visited place near Tbilisi, the multinational doctrines «Worthy partner-2017» (Noble Partner), where he met with President Giorgi Margvelashvili and defense Minister Levan Izoria. Vice-President of the United States has already left Georgia.

«We have received messages about the solid support of the United States as a whole, supporting the territorial integrity, support for the democratic development of Georgia, listened to a readiness to deepen relations», — said the foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze.

According to the head of the Ministry of justice Thea Tsulukiani, «the support of the new U.S. administration is especially valuable for Georgia.»

«We have heard a very clear message of support for Georgia and support its territorial integrity, foreign policy… we left with a feeling of great gratitude in respect of the Vice-President, and President Donald trump, whose messages brought to us by Mike Pence. I think the Georgian people appreciated the support from the United States, and this is really a historic chance for Georgia,» — said Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kvirikashvili told reporters.

Also during the visit of Vice-President held a brief meeting with representatives of the opposition. Pence and his wife met with the Catholicos-Patriarch of all Georgia, the Sioni Cathedral. Patriarch Ilia II presented the Deputy Prime Minister and his wife a gold cross and a bracelet, and gave gifts to trump and first lady of the United States.

During the visit, Pence has repeatedly stated that brought the message of the trump that «United States support Georgia and Georgian people.» Vice Prime Minister expressed readiness of the USA to deepen Georgia strategic relations, supported the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the country and noted that the U.S. condemns all who do not recognize the full independence of the country.
