Aviation authorities of Russia and Israel have agreed to start implementation of the suburban airport «Zhukovsky» in tel Aviv regular flights, said the Federal air transport Agency.

«As a result of correspondence from aviation authorities of the Russian Federation and the state of Israel agreement on the implementation of scheduled and Charter flights from the airport Zhukovsky airport Ben Gurion and back», — stated in the message.

Earlier, the Israeli side has not agreed to the flights the Russian airlines «Ikar» and «Ural airlines» from Moscow air port, as tel Aviv had initially refused to recognise the «Zhukovsky» regional status (which was given to him by the Ministry of transport of the Russian Federation) and took it to Moscow airports, for which a quota for Israel has been exhausted.

Regional status gives the airport the opportunity to use existing intergovernmental agreement-free quotas on flights from regions abroad. Before, a similar dispute with Russia led the aviation authorities of Tajikistan, insisting that the airport «Zhukovskiy» refers to Moscow, and for admission on flights to Dushanbe, we need to revise the intergovernmental agreement.

Later, «Ural airlines» and «Icarus» has been approved for flights to tel Aviv, but only a Charter.
