Foreign Minister of Germany, Sigmar Gabriel expressed the hope that the US will not jeopardize the interests of the European Union, introducing new sanctions against Russia.

«I am in very close contact with my American colleagues. We Europeans hope that in this case they will not act against European interests», — quotes the words of the Minister of the information portal Finanznachrichten.

In addition, Gabriel expects that the President of the United States Donald trump is not going to sign the bill on sanctions against Russia in its current form.

«We are very pleased that the American President hasn’t decided how he’s going to do. He has the opportunity to discuss these sanctions in the context of European interests,» he said.

He also called the new sanctions «illegal», noting that the US wants to release a place for the supply of American energy to the EU.

The U.S. Senate on July 27 adopted the law on sanctions against Russia, Iran and North Korea. Earlier this week the house of representatives of the United States Congress adopted by an overwhelming majority. Now the US President has 10 days to sign or reject the law.

In relation to the economy of the Russian Federation the bill expanding the number of sectoral sanctions. In particular, it reduces the maximum term of financing of Russian banks under US sanctions, up to 14 days, oil and gas companies, up to 60 days (now 30 days and 90 days, respectively).

The bill also suggests that the US President can impose sanctions on persons intending to invest in the construction of Russian export pipelines over $ 5 million a year or $ 1 million lump sum, or provide the projects, services, technology, to provide information support. In this document it is indicated that the United States will continue to oppose construction of the pipeline «Nord stream-2».

The Kremlin said that extremely negative about the bill, and the EU called it «unilateral actions of Washington.»
