Russian envoy to contact group on settlement in Donbass Boris Gryzlov called a deeply troubling sign signing by the President of Ukraine of the amendments to increase military spending.

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko signed on Tuesday a law on amendments to the state budget 2017 providing for additional financing of the defense sector — the construction of a plant for the production of ammunition, the purchase of tanks «Oplot» and the production of missiles.

«A very alarming signal is also signing yesterday, August 1, President of Ukraine of amendments to the budget, increasing military spending,» — said Gryzlov to journalists, commenting on the last Wednesday of the contact group.

According to him, instead of to allocate funds for the rehabilitation of infrastructure and economic activities in war-affected areas, it is planned to increase capacities for the production of ammunition, tanks and missiles. «As far as we know, the amendments included a provision for weapons not only of a defensive nature. Secondly, the amendments raise questions about the priorities of the current Ukrainian leadership», — said Gryzlov.

He pointed out that the Russian delegation again raised the issue of dilution of power in the Village Lugansk. «The Russian position remains unchanged: the settlement in the Donbass based on the Minsk agreement is impossible without solving political issues,» — said the Russian envoy.
