About 420 thousand rubles will be spent this year, the government of the Vologda region to promote economic and social development of indigenous minorities of the Veps living in the region, told RIA Novosti Deputy Governor Evgeniy Bogomazov.

Veps — Finno-Ugric peoples traditionally living in Karelia, Vologda and Leningrad regions in Russia. In April 2006, this nation was included in the list of indigenous peoples of the North, Siberia and the Russian Far East.

«We are talking about the support of the Veps residing in Babaevsky, and Vytegorsky districts. For this purpose, 260 thousand roubles has allocated the Federal budget, another 160 thousand roubles on these purposes will receive as co-financing Babaevsky district,» — said Bogomazov.

According to him, part of these funds, about 100 thousand rubles, will go to replenish the book Fund it was the CEN Babaevskie branch library system. More than 300 thousand rubles will be spent for repair of premises, purchase of furniture and computer equipment for Kosekoy and Timoshenko schools.

«Support and infrastructure development and capital construction for territories of permanent residence of the Veps is annually. In particular, in the years 2011-2017 for repair of objects of social sphere attracted more than 8.5 million rubles, including 2.3 million roubles from the Federal budget. It is possible to reconstruct schools, libraries and houses of culture,» — said the Deputy Governor.

According to the census of 2010, in the Vologda region there are 412 Veps. They are concentrated in rural settlements Pyazhozerskoe and Vepsian national Babayevsky district, and also in the rural settlement Rostinskoe Vytegra district.
