The priests of the temple prison at the Metropolitan detention facility №2 «Butyrka» on Wednesday, in Elijah’s day, will consecrate the baptismal font sentenced for the first time will make a special «prayer for justice».

According to the assistant to the chief of UFSIN of Russia in Moscow on the organization of work with the believers, Archpriest Konstantin Kobelev, «the baptismal» divine Liturgy and a special prayer Butyrskaya prison begins a series of events called «Saving faith».

Liturgy in the prison Church will begin at 10.00. The Church of the Intercession of the blessed virgin Mary in Butyrka prison — the oldest prison of the temple buildings of Moscow. It was built by a famous Moscow architect Mikhail Kazakov in the provincial centre of Butyrsky prison castle in 1782. In the XIX century the Church was repeatedly reconstructed. After the revolution of 1917 the Church was closed, later it housed the prison hospital and the medical unit. In the 2000s years the Church was fully restored on October 14, 2004 it was made the first divine Liturgy.

Currently, parishioners prisoners in the Butyrka spiritually nourished several priests of the temples of the capital.
