The Minister of culture Vladimir Medinsky instructed the company Tsentrrestavratsiya until 1 March 2018 to approve the final estimate on the completion of restoration work in the Novodevichy convent, also check the cost of works at some sites, in particular the reconstruction of the Fence Severina wall, examination of the iconostasis of the Smolensk Cathedral.

«Before 1 March next year to complete all design works, osmetech and approve the final table of the final expenses, the amount of… to understand the final amount we need to plan for in the budget of 18-19 years for the final completion of the work», — said the Minister at a working meeting on the restoration work in the Novodevichy monastery the Ministry of culture on Thursday.

During the meeting the Minister also gave instructions to check the cost of the work on the hotel facilities of the Novodevichy convent. In particular the Minister was surprised by the cost of restoration of Parts of the North wall (280 square meters) — more than 65 million rubles.

«I ask «Contrastively» to check pricing on the reasonableness of prices. To perform this type of work, because if we take each section of the wall will do for 1.5 million dollars… On the level of common sense, it raises questions. So please check the prices and their justification,» — said Medina.

The Minister also instructed to check the cost of the surveys of the Central iconostasis of the Smolensk Cathedral — 19 million rubles and a contract to 112,7 million roubles for the restoration of the Church of the intercession on the South gate.

Novodevichy Bogoroditse-Smolensky convent was founded in 1524 by Prince Vasily III. The architectural ensemble of the monastery is the example of Moscow Baroque and is under protection of UNESCO.
