The citizen of the Russian Federation Nikolay Filipchenko, who was sentenced by the district court of Vilnius to 10 years in prison on charges of espionage, filed a complaint in the court of appeal of Lithuania, reported RIA Novosti his lawyer Galina Kaganovska.

District court of Vilnius on 7 July Filipchenko was sentenced to ten years in prison on charges of espionage.

«According to Filipchenko, he filed a complaint in the court of appeal of Lithuania. Filipchenko denies his guilt,» said Kaganovska.

The district court confirmed the receipt of the complaint, which will be transferred to the court of appeal for consideration.

Filipchenko was detained in the transit train during a trip through the Republic from the Kaliningrad region to Belarus. According to prosecutors, he acted in the organized group, which has held several meetings with the people of Lithuania, ostensibly trying to recruit them for espionage.

The Prosecutor’s office claims that special attention was paid to the possibility to obtain any information about the President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaite. According to prosecutors, the suspects tried to strike up relations with the representatives of the security service of the President, who could introduce into the premises of the presidential Palace listening devices.
