In Petersburg starts the festival of choral art «the Singing world»

XV international festival of choral art «the Singing world» will be held in St. Petersburg from 4 to 9 August, according to the organizers.

This year the festival will be held under the auspices of St. Petersburg international cultural forum.

The festival will be attended by 43 choir and vocal ensemble from Greece, Israel, China, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Turkey, France, Croatia, Estonia, as well as from many regions of Russia (Moscow, Velikiy Novgorod, Vladivostok, Voronezh, Izhevsk, Kazan, Krasnodar, Nizhny Novgorod, Simferopol and many others).

Six days of the festival in concert halls and cathedrals of the Northern capital will be held 17 concerts of choral music.

The opening of the festival and gala-concert will take place in St. Peter’s Church on Friday evening. On Saturday in the Concert hall «Jaani Kirik» will be held the evening of music of St. Petersburg composers, which will feature works by Solovyov-Sedov, Petrova, dubravina, Voloshin and others. This evening will attend the Municipal chamber choir «Nizhny Novgorod», conductor — Ivan Steward, who will perform a great program of works by President of the festival, composer Jacob dubravina. On 6 August in the Russian Ethnographic Museum will host the traditional concert of folk music, where the teams from China, France, Croatia and Latvia will perform traditional music of their countries and peoples. On 7 August in the Kazan Cathedral, traditionally held a concert of Russian spiritual music.

According to the organizers, from 6 to 8 August in the framework of the festival will be held the XIII international competition of choral collectives and vocal ensembles «the Singing world» named after Yuri Falik. This year it will be attended by about 40 groups, they will compete in 11 nominations. The composition of the international jury will include representatives of Russia, Croatia, Lithuania and Slovakia. The Chairman of the jury will again become people’s artist of Russia, Professor Valery Uspensky.

The festival will also host master classes, choral conductors, composers and jury members of the contest with the consolidated choirs participating in the festival.

Closing festival and gala concert will be held on August 9 at the State academic Capella of St. Petersburg.
