Next, 137-I Assembly of the inter-Parliamentary Union, which will be held from 14 to 18 October in St. Petersburg, will be the most representative in recent years, it shows the absurdity of the statements about the isolation of Russia, told reporters on Thursday, the speaker of the Russian Council of Federation Valentina Matvienko.

«At all levels — Federal, urban preparing. We regularly hold meetings, analyze the preparation, solve the problems that arise. In the Tauride Palace, where the sessions will be held, is almost ready. The opening of the IPU Assembly will be held in the new modern Expocentre, there also is a training. So I’m sure it will be at the highest level», — said Matvienko reporters.

She hopes that this Assembly will be the most representative in recent years.

«Today, 130 countries agreed on the participation of delegations from 50 countries were officially registered. It is our impression that this is the most representative Assembly that took place in recent years. Number of heads of parliaments exceeds all those who were informed. All this shows the absurdity of trying to argue that Russia is in isolation,» — said the speaker of the Federation Council.

According to her, Russia gave assurances that there are no restrictions for members of national delegations will not and they will be able to participate in the Assembly. «Our position, which we raised is the inadmissibility of any of the sanctions against parliamentarians. They must engage in dialogue, representing the interests of voters», — said the speaker of the upper house.

«Giving the opportunity to come to everyone, we create the conditions for free, open and unbiased dialogue of the parliaments of all States to Express their point of view. The atmosphere of absolute democracy, to attend 137th inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly,» — said Matvienko.
