If Ukraine adopts a decision on introduction of biometric control for Russian citizens crossing the country’s border, then Russia will think over reciprocal actions, said the official representative of the Russian foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova. She called to await the final decision of Kiev on this issue, before we talk about the Russian reaction.

Earlier, the national security Council and defense of Ukraine adopted a decision to introduce biometric controls for citizens of other countries crossing the Ukrainian border. Kiev also intends to introduce a system of preliminary electronic registration for Russian citizens entering the territory of Ukraine.

«Let’s wait or not wait for the adoption or rejection of such decisions in Kiev, we heard a huge number of statements to this effect. They changed, changed even the position of the foreign Ministry on this matter,» Zakharova said at a briefing in Moscow.

She stressed that the Russian side proceeds from the premise that «if the decision is made, then we are going to consider it and to look at how to react to it».

«Hypothetical reasoning in relation to these things, they’re just irrelevant because the political climate in Ukraine is changing, the weather is unstable, so let’s wait for decisions or undecision about it,» added the diplomat.

Talking about Kyiv’s introduction of the visa regime with Russia has intensified after Ukraine visa-free regime with the EU. Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said that Moscow will proceed from the principle of reciprocity in visa matters with Ukraine.

Relations between Moscow and Kiev deteriorated on the background of the situation in the Donbass. Kiev has repeatedly accused Moscow of meddling in Ukraine’s Affairs. Russia denies it and calls such accusations unacceptable. Moscow has repeatedly stated that it is not a party to domestic conflict and is interested in Ukraine overcame political and economic crisis.
