The play «hamlet» by Shakespeare, staged by the famous Russian Director, artistic Director of the Alexandrinsky theater Valery Fokin will be shown in Japan in the framework of the project «Russian Seasons».

The presentation will take place on 26 and 27 August in one of the largest theatrical centers in the world — Japanese Toga.

In the Japanese mountain village of Toga acclaimed Director Tadashi Suzuki has built a whole complex of rehearsal rooms and performance venues, including the rock theatre and amphitheatre on the shore of the lake. Festivals, theoretical and practical seminars. In the Toga he was born of Japan’s first international theatre festival Toga Festival.

For display in this unique and picturesque location creates a new version of the play «hamlet» by bringing Japanese artists, adapted this platform scenography, and a specially created new decorations. Thus, the tour of the Alexandrinsky theater in Japan will also experience creative international cooperation in the field of theatre.

Premiere of «hamlet» staged by Fokine took place in April 2010. The stage version of the story of hamlet at the Alexandrinsky theatre created on the basis of poetic and prose translations of Shakespeare’s tragedy. The author of special dramatic adaptation was made by the playwright Vadim Levanov.

The role of Prince is played by the actor Dmitry Lysenkov, for whom this work became one of the most iconic.

The performance received a high evaluation not only the Russian audience: Alexandrinsky «hamlet» took the public for a theatre in Germany, Poland, Italy, Austria, Finland.
