British band Coldplay has canceled Friday’s concert in the Texas city of Houston due to the impending hurricane «Harvey», says on the band’s official website.

«We really wanted to play tonight, but sitting here together and watching the news about the hurricane, we feel we can’t ask someone to risk their safety. Unfortunately, we will have to wait (live — ed.)», — stated in the message group. It is noted that information about the transfer or the refund will appear later.

The concert was scheduled for 25 August and was supposed to go on the stadium NRG Stadium, with a capacity exceeding 71 thousand viewers.

National centre for the prevention of hurricanes USA (NHC) in Miami reported that hurricane «Harvey» menacing the Eastern seaboard of the United States, increased to the second category. According to meteorologists, the wind speed within the hurricane reaches 160 kilometers per hour. The hurricane is moving Northwest and is expected to reach the coast of Texas near Corpus Christi on Friday evening or Saturday morning. It can worsen to the third category. Potentially «Harvey» may be the most powerful hurricane in the U.S. over the past 12 years, since the country in 2005 was hit by the storm Katrina, which virtually destroyed the city of New Orleans.
