Chief editor MIA «Russia today» editor-in-chief of RT TV channel Margarita Simonyan believes that the development of information technologies will inevitably lead to a decline in audience from the world’s major media.

«I think that would be extremely difficult to keep a huge audience for a long time, because it would appear someone else (not professional journalists), who will become more fashionable, and the audience will migrate to right-to-left. This is what we, journalists, have to fight. Can’t say that now we are winning this battle. Sorry,» said Simonyan on the forum «Tavrida» in the Crimea.

In her opinion, new technical possibilities to create news feeds that will satisfy the most incredible tastes even highly specialized groups, will reduce the audience of large media conglomerates.

«I think we are in for interesting times when we are waiting for a strong fragmentation of the audience and quick change popularity like TV channels and what is on the Internet,» said Simonyan.

Change «Young journalists» on the forum «Tavrida» in the Crimea runs from 26 to 31 August. In discussions and sessions the forum is attended by prominent celebrities of Russia, the forum participants came dozens of young journalists from different regions of the country. The change is supported by the Russian popular front.
