Foreign Minister of Germany, Sigmar Gabriel on Monday sent to Washington, meets with U.S. Secretary of state Rex Tillerson is scheduled to discuss sanctions against Russia, said Monday the representative of the German foreign Minister Rainer Broglie.

«The Minister of foreign Affairs, tonight sent to Washington. U.S. Secretary of state Tillerson proposed to hold a personal meeting with Gabriel» — he said at a briefing.

Broglie noted that the meeting will discuss international problems. «North Korea, Afghanistan, the situation in Qatar, the nuclear agreement with Iran and U.S. sanctions against Russia», — he added.

According to the representative of the German foreign Ministry, Gabriel will also hold a meeting on climate and energy to discuss with former U.S. Secretary of state Henry Kissinger question of disarmament.

The President of the United States Donald trump had previously signed a law involving the extension of sectoral sanctions against the Russian economy. The law, in particular, suggests that the head of state can impose sanctions on persons who invest in the construction of Russian export pipelines over $ 5 million a year or $ 1 million lump sum. The law separately States that the United States will continue to oppose the project «Northern stream-2».

Gabriel called the new sanctions are illegal, noting that the US wants to clear a place for the supply of American energy to the EU. In turn, commenting on the signing of the law, the head of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker said that Brussels will work to protect the economic interests of the EU.
