Texas Governor Greg Abbott said on Monday the government will send to the aid of Houston affected by hurricane «Harvey», an additional one thousand representatives of the National guard.

«Tomorrow I will increase the number of members of the National guard for another thousand people in Houston», — he wrote in his personal Twitter account. Earlier, Abbott announced that the state called 3 thousands of members of the national guard.

Hurricane «Harvey» hit the coast of the Gulf of Mexico, his force amounted to four points on a scale. On Saturday, he weakened to the level of a tropical storm, the maximum wind speed at the moment is about 64 kilometers per hour.

The national weather service (NWS) reported that tropical storm «Harvey» has led to catastrophic flooding in one of the largest cities in the U.S. state of Texas Houston on Sunday. According to them, in some parts of the Houston rainfall is more than 76 centimetres, and in the near future this number will increase.

«Harvey» became the most powerful hurricane in the U.S. over the past 12 years, since the country in 2005 was hit by the storm Katrina, which led to the flooding of New Orleans city in Louisiana.
