Expert advice on human rights education and civic education, established in the Council on human rights (HRC) under the President of the Russian Federation intends to prepare the course programme on human rights for the Ranepa, reported on the website of the HRC on Monday.

«The twenty-fifth of August the Advisory Council held a meeting during which it was planned to make the course programme on human rights for the Russian Academy of national economy based on the experience of existing programs in higher education, to prepare draft criteria for the evaluation of programs on human rights education and civil enlightenment», — stated in the message.

The attention of the expert Council, as specified in the HRC, will also seek to overcome the barriers in the regions by opening or ongoing activities of the human rights schools.

A temporary working group «Expert Council for human rights education and civil enlightenment» was formed at the meeting of the Presidium of the HRC on February 13. It was headed by a member of the HRC Irina Kirkor, the group included as representatives of the Council and experts from other organizations, including the Moscow Helsinki group, the Sakharov centre as well as University professors. In early March of the presidential HRC launched the work of the expert Council for human rights education; the new structure will assess existing programmes and will establish an expert platform for discussion of problems in the field of public legal education.
