The French company Danone produces dairy products, is planning to move from Germany and the Netherlands to Siberia five thousand Holstein cows, according to Bloomberg.

It is planned that all animals transported by trucks to a farm near Tyumen in September. Start of milk production is scheduled for may of next year.

As has informed Agency the head of the Russian office Danone Charlie Cappetti, the company expects that the move will help the company to reduce the rising cost of production and to keep prices down due to Russian counter-sanctions.

«Milk prices are steadily increasing, and this affects the production of different products, such as yoghurt,» he said Capetti.

The company hopes that the price growth will slow next year. According to Capetti, the difference between supply and demand decreases as income on the market of new milk.

In August, three years have passed since the introduction of the food embargo against countries that imposed anti-Russian sanctions. A ban were meat, sausage, seafood and fish, vegetables, fruits and dairy products.

The European Commission estimates that, for the duration of the counter-sanctions the EU exports to Russia decreased almost twice — from 11.8 billion euros in 2013 to around 5.6 billion euros in 2016.
