The unknown visitor gave the Museum in the French Laval picture of the founder of the naïve art of Henri Rousseau.

«An anonymous donor visited the Museum in early August and was disappointed that the hometown of Henri Rousseau has in his collection only three of his works. Then he came back to transfer to the Museum package», told AFP the Director of the institution Antoinette Le Fale.

According to her, the package arrived with a letter in which she explained the motives of the gift, and a certificate of authenticity of the painting, signed by the expert-the critic in December 1995.

Cloth $ 32.7 46.8 inches is in good condition and depicts a fisherman on the background of the rural landscape, which the artist varied the pipe factory of the company.

Henri Rousseau was born in the town of Laval in 1844 in the family of a plumber. After service in the army he got a job in the French customs, which was later nicknamed «the Customs officer». The started painting at a Mature age, without a proper education. Now Rousseau paintings exhibited in the most famous museums in the world. The artist is one of the most famous representatives of primitivism.
