In Russia for ten years destroyed about 16.5 million square meters of dilapidated housing, told journalists on Tuesday Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak.

On Tuesday, Deputy Prime Minister Kozak and the Minister of construction and housing Russian Mikhail Men, the General Director of Fund of assistance to reforming housing and communal services Konstantin Tsitsin, head of the Sverdlovsk region Yevgeny Kuyvashev take part in the ceremony of handing over keys to residents of Degtyarsk in the framework of the program of resettlement of citizens from dilapidated housing.

«In 2007, ten years ago, Russian President Vladimir Putin was the start of a large-scale program of renovation of the housing stock in our country. From this moment unfolded a large-scale work, which required coordinated action by Federal, regional and municipal authorities. 916 billion rubles — is the cost of construction products, which was acquired at the expense of the state for ten years. The result of this work is 16.5 million square metres of dilapidated housing eliminated in our country. A massive programme of slum clearance,» — said Kozak.

He added that during this period repaired more than a quarter of apartment houses — more than 200 thousand. More than 20 million people have received new housing.
