New US sanctions open up opportunities for European companies to develop cooperation with Russia, said the head of the Ministry Maxim Oreshkin following the meeting with representatives of French business.

«Indeed, raised the issue of sanctions, raised the issue of new legislation from the United States. I noted that the reaction from European partners, European companies are more positive, so the relations between Russia and Europe, this situation imposes a very small effect, we can even say that it gives new opportunities for the European partners, they understand and actively plan to develop your business in Russia», — said Oreshkin.

Thus, according to the Minister, sanctions have become the motivating factor for the development of the Russian economy. At the same time, he noted that further restrictions will only create noise.

«Russia is part of a global world and we need to develop projects together with our partners, and sanctions that are introduced by the partners prevent you from doing this,» said Oreshkin.

The President of the United States Donald trump in August signed a law, suggesting the extension of sectoral sanctions against the Russian economy. In particular, it reduces the maximum term of financing of Russian banks under US sanctions, up to 14 days, oil and gas companies, up to 60 days (previously 30 and 90 days, respectively). The law also States that the United States will continue to oppose the project «Northern stream — 2».
