Russia considers a priority in the humanitarian ties with the United States the development of cooperation in the archival sphere, the Russian foreign Ministry.

According to the Agency, on Monday, the Ministry held a working meeting of the coordinating expert Council of the interdepartmental working group on issues of preservation of Russian historical and cultural heritage in the United States. The meeting participants discussed the results of relevant activities undertaken in both countries.

«As a priority of the new track of Russian-American humanitarian ties is the development of cooperation in the archival field, including digitization projects and the introduction into scientific circulation stored in the United States of valuable documents on the history of Russian America and bilateral relations», — stated in the message of the Russian foreign Ministry.

The expert Council discussed the results of the in Russia and US events. Also the meeting participants considered the issues of preparation of large themed events, including the American round forum «Dialogue of Fort-Ross» in San Francisco in October and the conference living in the United States of compatriots in the Hawaiian Islands, dedicated to 200 anniversary of Russian navigators of the Elizabethan Fort on the island of Kauai.

«We also plan to continue the previously started negotiations with the Autocephalous Orthodox Church in America regarding the savings created by the Russians of Orthodox shrines in Alaska and other States,» adds the foreign Ministry.
