The St. Petersburg diocese follows the story of the girl with HIV, who died Tuesday, and recalls the responsibility of all citizens, including the clergy, the law for the fulfillment of their parental responsibilities, said Wednesday RIA Novosti the head of communications of the St. Petersburg Metropolia of the Russian Orthodox Church Natalia Rodomanova.

Earlier it became known that in St.-Petersburg has died the child with HIV, whose parents, according to media reports, refused to give him antiretroviral therapy for religious reasons. Some publications also claim that the girl’s father was an Orthodox priest.

«The death of any human, especially a child, of course, is perceived as a huge loss. Of course, for parents it is a great sorrow. And in the Church pray for the repose of the dead girl. The issue of parental responsibility for children’s health is in the field of civil rights. The responsibility for the decision on admitting or refusal to take medication children have to be in the area of civil rights,» said Rodomanova.
