The President of Russia Vladimir Putin congratulated the leader of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko with his birthday, wishing him health and success; the heads of state also discussed by telephone international agenda, bilateral relations and the schedule of upcoming meetings, the press service of the Kremlin.

«Russian President Putin called President of Belarus Lukashenko warmly congratulated on the birthday, wishing good health and further success. The sides discussed topical issues of bilateral relations and international agenda and the schedule of forthcoming contacts», — stated in the message.

Previously, Putin sent the President a congratulatory telegram.

In the telegram, the Russian leader noted that «over the years on a post of the head of state you have earned the high respect of your compatriots and significant authority abroad as a responsible and visionary leader willing to socio-economic development of Belarus and protect its foreign policy interests.» According to Putin, «very great is your personal contribution to strengthening friendly relations between our countries, the acceleration of mutually beneficial integration processes within the Union state and the Eurasian economic Union.»

The Russian President also reiterated «the readiness to continue our friendly dialogue and constructive collaboration on topical issues of bilateral, regional and international agenda. «I’m sure it is in the fundamental interests of the fraternal peoples of Russia and Belarus», — he stressed.
