Russia will sign the Convention on avoidance of double taxation with Japan

Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev instructed the Finance Ministry to hold talks with Japan and sign on behalf of the government of the Convention for avoiding double taxation, and Protocol. The order was published Wednesday on the website of the Cabinet.

Previously, the agreement between the two countries was announced by foreign Minister of Japan. The new document should replace the current «Convention for avoidance of double taxation», which was signed by the USSR and Japan in 1986.

«To approve presented by the Ministry of Finance agreed with the Ministry of foreign Affairs, Ministry of economic development, Ministry of justice, the IRS and previously worked with the Japanese side the project of the Convention between the government of the Russian Federation and the government of Japan on avoidance of double taxation with respect to taxes on income and the prevention of avoidance and evasion and Protocol thereto,» — said in the text of the document.

«Instruct the Finance Ministry to carry out with participation of interested Federal Executive bodies negotiations with the Japanese side and on reaching the arrangement to sign on behalf of the government the Convention and the Protocol, allowing it to introduce the attached draft amendments, not of a fundamental character», — stated in it.

In the help document explains that the document creates additional conditions for attracting investment, will enable exchange of information in the field of tax offences.
