The summit of heads of States-participants of the Arctic Council will take place in may 2019, the venue is not yet defined, told reporters the Ambassador of Finland in Russia Mikko Hautala.

«According to the plans it will happen at the end of our (Finnish) presidency (the Arctic Council), then in may of 2019,» said chautala on the sidelines of the International conference on the Arctic under the auspices of the security Council of the Russian Federation.

«The place is not chosen yet» — he added.

Finland holds the presidency of the Arctic Council in 2017.

The Arctic Council, an international forum created to protect nature of the North polar zone. It consists of eight Arctic countries: Denmark, Iceland, Canada, Norway, Russia, USA, Finland and Sweden. Finland became the chair of the Arctic Council in may this year, taking over the baton from the United States.
