Moscow is open to finding common ground with Washington with that intensity, which it considers acceptable, the United States administration, said in an interview with the newspaper «Kommersant» a new Russian Ambassador to the U.S. Anatoly Antonov.

«Our side has repeatedly stated that we will not succumb to emotions and show restraint, despite all the difficulties, I remain open to finding common ground and move forward with that degree of intensity that is acceptable for the US administration,» — said the Ambassador.

According to him, for anybody not a secret that the Russian dialogue with the current US administration «is not easy».

«On the one hand, affected by the difficult legacy left by the team (ex-President of the United States – ed.) of Barack Obama. On the other — there is persistent attempts of certain forces in the Washington establishment to play the Russian card in domestic politics, including infinite spin insinuations about our alleged «interference» in last year’s American elections and other slanderous charges», — said Antonov.

According to the diplomat, all these factors interfere with the bilateral cooperation, creating a difficult backdrop for the work of the Russian diplomatic missions.

«It’s not normal situation, when the usual routine contacts of the management and staff of the Embassy are served in the media as the espionage activities of our diplomats without presenting formal complaints in droves expelled from the country, in violation of international law we have expropriated diplomatic facilities,» said Antonov.

Another reflection of the «superheated» political environment in the U.S. and «hyperactivity Russophobic lobby» the Ambassador believes accepted in the United States, a law intended to strengthen sanctions pressure on Russia.

«This is a serious blow to bilateral relations and opportunities for productive cooperation», — stated the Ambassador.
