Authorities in Kirov region are considering the possibility of organization of medical tourism in the region, reported the press service of the regional government.

This initiative was voiced by the acting Governor of the Kirov region, Igor Vasiliev at a meeting with the doctors of the hospital.

«They discussed a new but very promising direction – medical tourism, which will attract area patients from other regions and even countries. From specialized medical organizations of Kirov have successful experience with patients from other regions: the first year of treatment, patients come out of town and in the regional clinical hospital, Center of traumatology, orthopedics and neurosurgery,» the message reads.

Meanwhile, the government believes that the development of this necessary infrastructure. A solution could be establishment of a medical complex which would include several medical institutions in the city. This will create new jobs and to attract in the region means interterritorial calculations (calculations for the medical aid rendered to insured persons outside of the subject of the Russian Federation on the territory of which issued the policy of obligatory medical insurance).

Vasilyev believes, according to the press service, in the development of medical tourism it is necessary to develop not only health organizations, but also to improve the overall quality of life in the region, to make it more attractive to visit: to arrange well parks, squares, repair roads, develop tourist routes. This year the region participates in several Federal programs for improvement and intends to participate in them next year.
