China is confident that all parties interested in the settlement of the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula, needs to exercise restraint and to avoid actions, «podlivaya oil on the fire», said Thursday the official representative of Chinese foreign Ministry Hua Chunying.

«The situation on the Korean Peninsula, paid a lot of attention, and you can feel the smell of gunpowder, the situation remains very tense. China has repeatedly stressed that all parties concerned should exercise restraint and avoid escalating tensions and to avoid actions, which can add fuel to the fire», — the diplomat said at a briefing on Thursday.

She also expressed hope that other countries will carefully consider and will accept China’s initiative on «double freeze» and will contribute to the return of the parties to the negotiating table because the nuclear issue of the Korean Peninsula, according to the representative of the Chinese foreign Ministry, can only be solved through dialogue and consultation.

Russia and China have developed a «road map» for resolving the problems of the Korean Peninsula, the so-called plan of «double freeze.» In particular, it provides that the DPRK will declare a moratorium on nuclear tests and missile launches, and South Korea and the United States refrain from carrying out the exercises, which Pyongyang believes a rehearsal for war against the North Korean state.

It is assumed that the parallel opposing sides will begin to negotiate and approve the General principles of relationships, including non-use of force and the intention to make efforts for the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.

Russia has also proposed to develop a roadmap for the gradual restoration of trust and create conditions for the resumption of six-party talks.

Previously the foreign Ministry of South Korea reported that it is unacceptable for the plan of «double freeze.»
