Indian court, after hearing the testimony of the government archaeologists, ruled that the Taj Mahal is a Muslim mausoleum, and not a Hindu Shiva temple, The Guardian reports.

Earlier media reported that six lawyers have submitted to the authorities a petition in which they stated that the Taj Mahal — not a Muslim tomb, a Hindu temple dedicated to the deity Shiva. So how to pray in the architectural monument until now could only Muslims, the plaintiffs demanded Hindus to give access to the Shrine.

Then the authorities requested the archaeological survey of India to give their opinion about the original purpose of the object of UNESCO world heritage site in Agra.

However, the archaeologists came to the side of the Muslims, saying that the Taj Mahal was built by order of the Sultan of the Mughal Empire by Shah Jahan in memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal, who died in childbirth fourteenth child. Here, after death, was buried himself Shah Jahan.
