In Simferopol will begin excavations on the spot where, according to historians, was once a medieval Palace complex of the Kalga-Sultan, Deputy Chairman of the state Committee of the Crimean government on the protection of cultural heritage Vyacheslav Zarubin.

«We received the full support of the President. Will be carried out archaeological research on the street thieves. The question now is to open the worksheet. He will soon be achieved,» said Zarubin reporters.

According to him, the excavations will conduct the Institute of archaeology of the Crimea, Russian Academy of Sciences.

«Experts will carry out there research. Find out what’s left of the Palace of the Kalga-Sultan. Picked up the entire historical part, all the sources where that was described. We will put finally an end to this long question,» said Zarubin.

He also stressed that no construction works on the site until the archaeological examination will not be carried out.

Kalga — the title of the second largest after Khan faces in the hierarchy of the Crimean khanate. The residence was the Palace, which was located in the area of today’s Simferopol Park Salgirka, near the hotel «Moscow».
