Famous dancer and socialite Mathilde Kschessinska was born 145 years ago. Her life is full of rumors and legends, to tell, for example, about countless treasures, which Matilda seems to be hidden somewhere, leaving in 1917 Petersburg. Vivid dancer and star of the Imperial theatre, she is remembered primarily for his many novels.

Kshesinskaia herself wrote in his memoirs that early childhood was the yoke. The connection with the three great princes, including the future Emperor Nicholas II, only a small fraction of the stories which she openly wrote in the memoirs.

Pole Kschessinska was born from a creative family. Grandfather was violinist and singer, father Felix Kschessinska — dancer. She claimed that the father is so exemplary played the Mazurka that thanks to him the dance was part of the compulsory curriculum of all balls in Russia.

Matilda herself was the third joint child. Her older sister Julia and brother yuzya also danced. That is Julia in the theater was called the first Kschessinska, Mathilde Kschessinska was the second one.

Matilda graduated from the Imperial ballet school. In her memoirs she emphasized that the teachers singled her childhood. In the theatre it has been the glory of woman is willful. For example, one day she changed the suit to address alleged uncomfortable, on your own, after which he was fined.

Had Matilda and weaknesses — throughout her life she played the tape. They say, allegedly, sitting at the table for the first time, she put on 17. This brought her a prize. Since then she only played roulette and bet on one number, for which he received the nickname Madame Seventeen.

Fled from St. Petersburg in 1917, Mathilde moved first in Kislovodsk, where he spent almost a year. There she hoped to ride out troubled times, but later it became clear that she would be safer in France.

Life in exile was obviously more quiet and peaceful than in the pre-revolutionary Russian capital. Kschessinska officially registered marriage with Grand Duke Andrei Vladimirovich (grandson of Alexander II), from which she already had a son.

She has done a lot to spread the traditions of Russian academic dance. Matilda created his school was patronized by the Federation of Russian classical ballet, which proclaimed the continuation of the traditions of Russian ballet in English schools of dance. Kschessinska lived a long life — she died at the age of 99 years old (in 1971) in Paris and was buried beside her husband at the Russian cemetery Sainte-Genevieve-des-Bois in the suburbs of the French capital.
