Sanctions pressure on North Korea will not lead to that result, which all targeted, said the official representative of Russian foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.

«Unfortunately, it (the sanctions tool — ed.) does not bring proper results because it is necessary not to tighten the sanctions screws and especially not to do it in addition to the decisions of the security Council unilaterally, conducting some kind of private line,» she said at a briefing on Thursday.

According to the representative of the Russian foreign Ministry, «you need to go clear through political and diplomatic settlement». «This implies not only the sanctions policy, it involves negotiations, meetings, dialogue, settlement of…. One of the sanctions pressure situation to move is almost impossible. We can see this,» she said.

The official representative of the Russian foreign Ministry also stressed that «pressure will not lead to the result that we all aim».

On the morning of August 29, North Korea conducted a launch of a ballistic missile that flew over Japan’s territory, fell in 1180 kilometers from Cape Erimo in Hokkaido. Total flight distance was 2.7 thousand kilometers, the flight lasted 14 minutes, the maximum height was 550 kilometers. Damage to air and marine vessels is not fixed. For the first time since April 2009, when North Korea launched a satellite with a missile «Taepodong-2», flight of the rocket passed over Japan’s territory.

The UN Security Council held an emergency meeting in connection with another launch of a ballistic missile of the DPRK and adopted a presidential statement condemning Pyongyang’s actions and demanded to stop the test. Also, the representative of Japan called for a «strong resolution» of the UN Security Council in response to the start-up of the DPRK.
