The Moscow city court on Thursday upheld the detention of businessman Konstantin Ponomarev, who is the main witness in the case of the head of the Hermitage Fund William Browder, also known for its long litigation with IKEA for a debt of nearly 10 billion rubles, the correspondent of RIA Novosti news from the courtroom.

Ponomarev is accused of false accusation, fraud and tax evasion.

«The decision of Presnensky court of Moscow on prolongation accused Ponomarev of the period of detention until October 6, to leave without changes», — has decided court.

Ponomarev asked the court to release him on bail in 120 million roubles — «this amount is twice more than the largest amount of collateral that I know of in criminal cases». The court refused.

In this case under house arrest is the lawyer of the businessman Michael Zagorski, who is charged with two articles of the criminal code — the artificial creation of evidence and bribery or coercion to testify.

We are talking about litigation of a businessman with «Kubanenergo», which he allegedly provided the generators during the energy blockade of the Crimea, but did not receive money for them, and IKEA for the rental of generators for hypermarkets furniture company in St. Petersburg. Blame businessman does not recognize, noting that «he does not understand what his criminal intent and what the offense».
