Rospotrebnadzor warned the Russians about the spread of intestinal infection in several regions of Japan, a message posted Thursday on the Agency’s website.

«According to the information of the Executive authorities of a number of Japan’s prefectures (Gunma, Kanagawa and Saitama) in the period from 14 August this year after a meals purchased in supermarkets and restaurants, was 14 cases (12 children from 5 to 12 years) caused by Enterohaemorrhagic Escherichia coli E. coli 0157. The highest number of cases (11) identified in the Prefecture of Saitama,» — said in the message.

It is noted that the factor of transmission have been potato salad with additions of pork and apples. Experts suggest that the pathogen got into it with ill-pasteurized apples, as contamination of potatoes were excluded, the audits.

The Agency urged citizens to consider this information when planning trips.
