The investigating authorities in St. Petersburg conducted preliminary examination on the fact of death at the children’s hospital HIV-infected ten-year girl, according to city GASK.

According to media reports, the child’s parents refused to give her antiretroviral treatment for religious reasons. Some publications also claim that the girl’s father was an Orthodox priest.

The investigators intend to seize documents from the hospital that treated the girl and conduct the examination to determine cause of death and the adequacy of treatment. Also the test will relate to the actions of doctors and individuals responsible for prevention of crimes against minors.

Guide GASK in St. Petersburg took the course of the preliminary investigation on special control.

In the Public chamber also promised to follow the progress of the investigation.
