Mortality in Russia during the seven months of this year decreased by 2.3% compared to last year, the press service of the Ministry of health with reference to the Minister of health Veronika Skvortsova.

«According to official statistics of Rosstat, in the first seven months of this year in our country died by 23.7 thousand people less than in the same period last year. Mortality declined by 2.3 % and amounted to 12.7 per 1,000 population (in 7 months of 2016 to 13.0 per 1000 population)», — quotes the words of the Minister in the Minister.

According to her, these results are based on the reduction in mortality from all major causes: from diseases of system of blood circulation — by 3.3%, of neoplasms (tumors) — by 2.8%, tuberculosis — by 15.2 %, respiratory diseases — by 9.0%, including from pneumonia — by 21.0%, diseases of digestive organs — by 4.2%, external causes of death was 10.7 %, including from traffic accidents by 8.5%.

It is also noted that throughout the current year held a historic low infant mortality rate, which for seven months decreased by 11.7% and amounted to 5.3 per 1000 live births.
