Chief Rabbi of Russia Berel Lazar has congratulated the people’s artist of the USSR Joseph Kobzon’s anniversary and wished him to live to 120 years, said RIA Novosti in the press service of the Rabbi.

Kobzon Monday was 80 years old.

«For me, for our whole community – and, probably, for the entire Jewish people — you have become in the full sense of the word «a legend». No wonder among the numerous awards and honors that You have received during the long years of fruitful work, has a Jewish award «Person of the year». Our entire community is proud of You, Your creativity, which became a symbol of a whole generation of Russian multinational culture», — quotes the press-service of the word Berel Lazar.

He noted that the anniversary of the singer came at the end of the month Elul – «time of mercy», when Jews are supposed to help one’s neighbor. According to the chief Rabbi of Russia, Putin has succeeded in works of mercy, including as head of the Public Council of the Federation of Jewish communities of Russia.

«Age of 80 years is called in the Talmud «the pinnacle of manhood». Our sages explain that in this age the person is fully aware of the priorities of their lives and able to focus on the Essentials, leaving aside all secondary. The main thing for you, your life – a song to heal the human soul, to give courage, confidence in the future… So let God do what he likes at least up to 120 years,» concluded Lazar.
