Manufacturers fermented Puer tea Chinese Yunnan intend to sue the activist-blogger Fan Simina, who writes under the name of Fan Jozsi, for his article about the fact that drinking it can cause serious diseases, writes portal «Yunnan Wang».

The amount of the claim can amount to 6 million yuan (about 923 million dollars).

Fang Shimin by training a biochemist, he is known in China as the activist, who opposes the fraud in various fields. Previously, he published an article, «Tea prevents or causes cancer?», which noted that the popular tea may have a carcinogenic effect. In his opinion, the consumption of tea can be a threat to the ingestion of large amount of aflatoxins, which in turn can cause liver problems and cancer.

Association of manufacturers of Puer tea in South China’s Yunnan province believes that such claims are unfounded, and they seriously hurt their reputation and could reduce sales. Tea manufacturers require that the activist has deleted the article, made a public apology and paid compensation of six million yuan to farmers of the province.

The publication caused considerable debate was also held at the conference, where experts shared their views about the properties of tea and the judgments of the Fan Simina.

The author of the article commented on the events, saying that his text contains the right conclusions based on studies published by the Yunnan agricultural University and in several international publications.

Chinese Puer tea is very popular all over the world, it refers to a variety of fermented teas that get better with age and more expensive, some even propose to consider investments in PU-erh tea as an alternative to investing in gold, property and shares.
