Consumption of alcohol within the lower level of alcohol consumption in Russia is failed for 10 years to decrease to 103, liters per capita per year, this work should continue, said health Minister Veronika Skvortsova told reporters.

«In recent years in our country decreased the consumption of alcoholic beverages. When we began to engage seriously in the fight against domestic drunkenness and chronic alcoholism, in 2008, was 18 litres per capita. In this year it is 10.3 liters per capita,» said Skvortsova, adding that the performance of the who threat level is 8 liters.

She noted that before the Ministry of health the task «in the next few years to reduce the consumption of up to eight (liters) and even below.»

«In addition, the challenge is to properly develop the market of alcoholic products, as the Russian market suffers from an obvious predominance of spirits… Noble wine, especially dry wine, some other drinks that a lesser degree, the market will expand,» the Minister added.
