Ex-Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev said that he believes in the Russian people, the current generation of advanced, educated — the relationship between the people and the government become more complex, it is necessary to create the country’s civil society, and now living generations.

«Do not be afraid of their people. People are smarter than we think, nicer than we even feel it. It should trust, and then it turns out that the result deserves the society,» he said, answering the journalists ‘ questions ahead of the release of his new book «Remain optimistic».

It is believed that «society is ripe if it is ready to prepare the following generation,» he said. «Therefore, prepare their successors,» said the politician.

Gorbachev did not agree with the popular opinion that people in Russia to the freedom of the suspicion and for the Russian people it is not important. «Do not agree», — he said in response to a question from journalists.

In his view, «everything can be found in our people» — and the best and worst quality.

«No, I believe in our people. Especially now generation of educated, well-read — more complicated relations between the government and the people. It is necessary to create a civil society, it is a matter of generations… it is Time to create a civil society,» — said the politician.
