Deputy Prime Minister of Libya, Ahmed Mitig on Wednesday will arrive on an official visit to Russia, one of its tasks is to prepare a possible visit to Russia by Prime Minister Fayeza Zarraga, the newspaper «Kommersant», citing a source familiar with the preparation of the trip.

According to the interlocutor of the edition, his official visit Mitig start with Grozny of the Chechen Republic. It is noted that the stated purpose of his visit was to discuss the state of Russian — Libyan relations and the mediation of Russia’s participation in the political settlement of the Libyan conflict.

«At the same time, one of the objectives of Mr. Mitiga — to prepare a possible visit to Russia by Prime Minister Fayeza Zarraga. His main political opponent — the commander of Libyan national army, Khalifa Haftar — has already visited Moscow in mid-August. However, Russian officials are interested in how to demonstrate willingness to communicate with all parties to the Libyan conflict,» the statement reads.

According to the newspaper, in Grozny at Mitiga scheduled talks with the head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov and the head of the Russian contact group for the inter-Libyan settlement with the Ministry of foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and the state Duma of the Lion Money. As expected, the then Libyan politician will arrive in Moscow for talks with Russian President’s special envoy on the Middle East Mikhail Bogdanov and representatives of the Russian expert community.

As stated by the paper Money, the arrival of Ahmed Mitiga is a new stage of development of the Russian peacekeeping mission in the context of the Libyan settlement.

«I want to underline that the trip is organized after the visit of General Haftarot. This once again reflects the position of foreign Minister of Russia and head of the Chechen Republic: in the inter-Libyan settlement you need to engage with all parties to the conflict with the purpose of reconciliation and reaching a peaceful resolution of the Libyan crisis», — told the newspaper Money.
