MSU has ranked among the best universities for THE Humanities

Moscow state Lomonosov University entered the top-100 of subject rating the Times Higher Education majoring in «Arts and Humanities», rising over the year by 15 positions, reported the press service of the Moscow state University.

Subject rating of Times Higher Education on a specialty «Arts and Humanities» («Arts and Humanities») was published on Wednesday. It is based on 13 indicators of the world ranking World University Rankings 2017-2018, grouped in five categories: education, scientific research, citations, internationalization, innovation, using a unique weighting factors for each of the specialties rankings. The «Arts and Humanities» includes the sections «the Art of acting», «Languages, literature and linguistics, History, philosophy», «Architecture» and «Archaeology».

«Moscow state University named M. V. Lomonosov took the 51th place in the list of the best universities in the world for this specialty. Moscow state University has improved its performance by 15 points compared to the previous year (66 in 2016),» — said in the message.

As noted in the press service of the Moscow University became the only Russian University represented in the rating.

«Traditionally, Russian universities occupy high positions in the rankings to natural-science disciplines and the Humanities are falling behind. It’s nice that we once again were able to demonstrate our strengths in the humanitarian sphere. We have improved performance in this area by 15 points compared to the previous year. This reflects the higher level of research of our historians, philologists, art historians, linguists and archaeologists» — are reported words of the rector of Moscow state University Viktor Sadovnichy.

He noted that the joint projects of scientists and archaeologists MSU with European, American, South Korean and Japanese colleagues allow us to make discoveries of international importance, and to establish and maintain contacts in the global educational and research community.
