Famous French Director Claude Lelouch said at the meeting with Russian journalists that the trip to Moscow for the Festival of youth and students in 1957, a key way to change his life.

«In Moscow I was fortunate to see how worked Mikhail Kalatozov on the film «the cranes are Flying». After that day, I wanted to be a filmmaker — but it was a simple statement,» — said Lelouch, who directed, among other things, the famous film «a man and a woman.»

At the meeting in the Embassy of Russia Ambassador Alexander Orlov suggested Lelouche renowned musician Michel Legrand to attend the world festival of youth and students, which will be held in Sochi in October 2017.

«I would love to give a concert there. Nothing is ready, not organized. But I feel the need to return to Russia after 60 years. I would love to play the music that was played in 1957,» said Legrand.

That trip to Moscow more than a half century ago was a turning point in his life.

«The orchestra sailed from Le Havre on the ship to the Leningrad. Then there was Moscow. There I met a girl, and then married her in Paris. Our Claude’s life has changed because of this festival», — said the musician.

XIX world festival of youth and students will take place from 14 to 22 October this year in Sochi, and will gather 20 thousand young professionals in various fields from 150 countries at the age from 18 to 35 years. The working languages of the festival are the official UN languages: Arabic, English, Spanish, Chinese, Russian, French.
