The Russian foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said he plans to meet with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif at the next session of the UN General Assembly next week.

«We agreed with Mr. Zarif to continue our dialogue in the UN General Assembly session, where we will be next week,» he said after talks with Zarif.

Commenting on Wednesday’s meeting Zarif with Russian President Vladimir Putin and the subsequent talks with his part, Lavrov said that they managed to cover the entire spectrum of relations between the two countries both in bilateral and international agenda.

«In our bilateral discussions, we focus on those agreements that were reached in March of this year during visit of the President (of Iran Hassan — ed.) Rouhani in Russia. Stated that all agencies work well, stressed the importance of further active work of the intergovernmental Commission on trade and economic cooperation, the high level Committee on industry and trade and the Commission on military-technical cooperation», — said Lavrov.

According to him, special attention was paid to cooperation in the field of nuclear energy.

«The first unit of the station «Busher» already produces electricity at full capacity, now is the negotiation process on the preparations for the construction of the second unit,» — said Lavrov.

In addition, according to him, discussed major projects that are planned to be implemented in the near future in the field of railway electrification in Iran and the construction of thermal power plants.

Speaking on international issues discussed at the talks, Lavrov, in particular, mentioned the situation in the Persian Gulf.

«More broadly, we are interested in the situation in the Persian Gulf normalizability to Arab countries, and Iran had the opportunity to dialogue, address the concerns of each other, to search for such agreements that will allow the region to develop steadily on the principles of good neighborliness,» the Minister said.
